What to prepare before a Hong Kong floor study

Warehouse loading dock with stacked pallets

A floor study fails quietly when observers wait at the gate or when order samples arrive without timestamps. This checklist keeps the pick-pack observation days useful.

Access and escorts

Confirm visitor badges for every zone we will enter, including mezzanine pack areas. Name an escort who knows which aisles are under maintenance.

Anonymised volume samples

One week of order lines with release time, pick complete time, pack complete time, and zone — no customer names required. CSV is fine.

Shift pattern honesty

Tell us which days are peak for your channel mix. Observing only a quiet Tuesday will understate pack congestion that appears on marketplace flash days.

Space for a twenty-minute debrief

A small meeting room near the floor beats a distant HQ boardroom. We sketch travel paths while the observations are fresh.

Full sequencing lives on our floor study page. For the flagship engagement itself, see the pick-pack throughput assessment.
